Affordable, flexible group health insurance for your business
Finding the right group health plan doesn't have to be complicated. American Medical Plans helps small and mid-size businesses secure high-quality, affordable coverage for their employees — whether you're offering benefits for the first time or looking to lower the cost of an existing plan.
What is group health insurance?
Group health insurance is coverage an employer offers to employees and, often, their dependents. Because risk is spread across the group, plans typically offer better rates and broader benefits than individual coverage. Offering it protects your team, strengthens recruiting and retention, and can come with tax advantages for the business.

FAQ
Group health insurance questions
How many employees do I need for a group health plan?
In most states a small group plan requires at least one eligible employee who is not the owner or the owner's spouse. We work with businesses from 2 employees to 200 and beyond.
How much does group health insurance cost per employee?
Costs depend on your team's ages, location, plan design, funding type and how much the employer contributes. We'll quote fully insured, level-funded and other options so you can compare real numbers.
What's the difference between level-funded and fully insured plans?
A fully insured plan has a fixed premium and the carrier carries all claims risk. A level-funded plan also has a predictable monthly cost, but if your group's claims are lower than expected you may receive a refund or credit at year-end.
What are my legal requirements under the ACA?
Employers with 50 or more full-time equivalent employees must offer affordable, minimum-value coverage or risk penalties, and must handle related IRS reporting. Smaller employers aren't required to offer coverage but may qualify for advantages when they do. We help with compliance and reporting.
Can I offer dental, vision and life insurance too?
Yes. We can bundle medical with dental, vision, life, disability and wellness benefits to create a competitive package.
